Are psychedelics legal in the US?

At this time, ketamine – a dissociative substance – is the only psychedelic-like drug that can be legally prescribed throughout the United States for off-label use to treat mental health conditions like depression. We, therefore, are only working with licensed providers that offer KAT. As more psychedelic medicines gain federal approval, we intend to expand our offerings to include those substances. To find out more about the status of legalization (or decriminalization) of psychedelics in the U.S., visit here.1

Footnotes

1. Under the federal Controlled Substances Act, psychedelics such as LSD, MDMA, psilocybin, DMT, and ibogaine, among others, are classified as Schedule I substances, while ketamine is a Schedule III drug. It is a federal crime to possess Controlled substances in the United States without express exemptions under the Controlled Substances Act. TARA Mind does not endorse the recreational use of psychedelics or any other controlled substance; nor does it recommend the use of psychedelics for any other purposes without proper legal exemptions or approvals granted by the FDA and/or the Controlled Substances Act.
