Dr. Prashad is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in interventional modalities for treatment-resistant disorders with a particular interest and expertise in ketamine therapy. The founder and current president of the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists, and Practitioners (ASKP3), Dr. Prashad been involved with furthering awareness and education regarding the safe and effective use of ketamine on an international level and frequently presents on the use of ketamine for psychiatric disorders. She is the founder and medical director of Sandhya J. Prashad, MD, Houston Ketamine Therapeutics, and Houston TMS Therapeutics and has personally administered more than 9,000 treatments with ketamine or esketamine. She is a highly regarded psychiatrist having been named one of Houston’s Top Doctors by H Texas Magazine in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Dr. Prashad, who serves on several advisory panels for ketamine related research, is a faculty member of the Integrative Psychiatry Institute where she assisted with the development of the curriculum for ketamine medical provider training. She completed both medical school and psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine, where she now serves as a clinical assistant professor within the medical school’s Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
