John Tiernan is a Partner at Red Cell, where he focuses on the firm’s investment platform. Prior to Red Cell, John was a private equity investor at The Carlyle Group, where he acted as an aide to the Co-founder, Co-CEO, Chief Investment Officer and other senior executives. At Carlyle, John’s responsibilities spanned investment, strategy & operations, and investor relations, providing insight into every aspect of the alternative asset management business at the highest level. In an investment capacity, John directly executed private equity transactions and evaluated hundreds of investments on behalf of the firm’s global investment committees.
Prior to Carlyle, Mr. Tiernan served as an Investment Banking Analyst at Citigroup, where he focused on M&A transactions in the Technology sector. He holds a BA in Economics from Brown University and an MBA from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar and received several fellowships, including the Academic Excellence Fellowship (Highest GPA) and the Morgenthau Fellowship for Public Finance & Policy.
